Was ist Open Hardware oder "Open Source Hardware"?

“Open Hardware is a thing - a physical artifact, either electrical or mechanical - whose design information is available to, and usable by, the public in a way that allows anyone to make, modify, distribute, and use that thing.”

"Open Hardware nennt man einen Gegenstand - ein elektronisches oder mechanisches Gerät - dessen Design-Information der Öffentlichkeit dergestalt zugänglich ist, dass jeder diesen Gegenstand herstellen, modifizieren, verbreiten und verwenden darf."
